Day 21

Wow. Never realized we’ve been locked up for this long already! I haven’t gone out 2 days before the lockdown was officially imposed so that makes it 23 days for me. Anyway, nothing really big, it’s still pretty much the same routine since the start —

Working remotely on weekdays from 9 to 6

I’m never really a morning person but this work-from-home set-up’s turning out to be an ideal one for me. With the preparation and commute gone, the morning rush and fucks I have to give are also gone l o l (not kidding, enter Chandler Bing’s “duh” face) I still set my alarm just the same, only there’s more courage to snooze because I can log in prior to 9 (and I’m proud to say that I’ve been consistent the last three weeks) without even getting up from my bed haha! There’s just this one time I overslept and wasn’t able to join a call but it’s okay because it was one of those meetings that could’ve been an e-mail l o l

“Fake running” after work

I also get to log out on time which allows me to do other things! You know back when it was normal, going to the gym really feels like a luxury, an optional kind of lifestyle. Or well maybe it’s an essential part of my life but in order for me to do it, I had to trade it off with something else a.k.a. choosing gym over hanging out with friends or family. Which should not really be the case because health is more than just your fucking wealth — it is your life, it is you. Why you breathe, why you move, why you’re here are all because of your health. More than the pretty studios, gym outfits, restroom selfies, after-class photos. And I never really saw it this way until COVID-19. If there’s anything this whole thing is making me realize (among other things) is that, any movement is as good as looking after my health and it should never be a choice that I still have to make. I have to do it — like I have to drink my iced coffee every morning, like I have to shower every single day. No buts, no questions, no second thoughts.

Lol that was a pretty long preamble, but just really happy to say that I’m on my 11th day of running or “fake running” as I call it, today. “Fake” because obviously it’s not the Ayala Triangle kind of run like I used to do, it’s literally an at-the-garage run with me circling around the space within our gate for I don’t know how many times but at least I’m able to go as far as 6 kilometers at the minimum everyday. I’ve been missing my cycling classes a lot but IG Live workouts are just not for me. Admittedly, looking after my health was never really the motivation when I put on my sports bra and leggings again, it was that fear of finding myself to be an unpleasant being to look at once we can go out for reunions/gatherings and take photos together with friends again. Shallow, I know. It’s actually just now, as I write this, that this perspective is occurring to me and I’m pleased. Though I have to say that the scale you know, is still being a bitch, and that is why this isn’t the part where I’d attach a side-by-side photo of myself during the first day vs. today.

Recreations before bed time

Also not having to wait for the weekend for me to be able to open my personal laptop brings me so much joy! Being able to juggle my leisure activities alongside work is so liberating, and it makes me feel productive more than ever.

Basically it’s Netflix and writing these entries. Watching series while on standby for work e-mails and Viber messages within office hours is something that I really savor at this moment, and it’s unpretentious on our part as employees, which is so much better! I mean, you know in your heart that your whole eight-hour window is not entirely consumed by office tasks (unless you’re in the busiest planning season), and forcing them to fit the day without looking anywhere else is just so pathetic and primitive l o l

So in the last three weeks I rewatched —

  • Contagion - it’s obviously the first one that came into mind when we got locked

  • Matilda - still my no fail go-to happy movie!

  • Little Rascals - wanted to pinch the little boys’ cheeks especially Spanky

  • The Parent Trap - D U H, do I even have to justify?

  • It Takes Two - Olsen Twins forever!

  • The Purge - relevant to our current state

  • The Platform - not really a rewatch but yeah definitely out of curiosity

Caught up with —

  • Narcos Mexico Season 2

  • Kingdom Season 1

  • Kingdom Season 2

  • Friends Season 1

  • Friends Season 2

  • Friends Season 3

  • Elite Season 3

And now I’m on La Casa de Papel Part 4 and it’s a mission to accomplish it over this weekend so that we may add more accomplishments a.k.a. series to this list. Haha!

Also — angsty entry but ain’t nobody got time for sugarcoating and shit. Let’s see if I’d find it an interesting topic to touch in the course of this lockdown.

Another also — privileged entry to the righteous people of society but I’m just an average human being who can only do so much. Please note that I don’t have a horse. L O L
